Your day to day

• Ensures that an efficient and accurate filing system, both manuals as well as electronic, is maintained at all times.• Maintains complete and supported records of all Sales Agreements, Contracts and Quotations for the hotel.• Establishes an efficient trace file to ensure that all business booked is properly tracked.• Prepares, compiles generates and distributes the daily/weekly/monthly reports in a timely manner.• Be the key operator for Delphi and provide training for all new hires.• Assist with the compilation of annual budgets, business plan and regular action plans.• Ensures high standards of personal presentation and grooming.• Exercises responsible behaviour at all times and positively representing the hotel.• Responds to changes in the sales function as dictated by the industry, company and hotel.• Reads the hotel's Employee Handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to fire, hygiene, health and safety.• Attends training sessions and meetings as and when required.• Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.• Liaises and works closely with the related operation departments ensuring guests needs and expectation are being met.• Handles guest and employee enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, reporting complaints or problems. If no immediate solution can be found, to ensure that the necessary follow-up is conducted in a timely manner.• Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.• Ensures a high level of exposure for Hotel through direct sales solicitation via telephone, contracts and written communications.• Assists in the distributions of relevant hotel information to clients when required.• Ensures that the relevant information of all allocated Accounts is being up dated regularly in the record or electronic database system.• In the absence of the Director of Sales/Associate Director of Sales/Sales Manager/Assistant Manager Sales, responds to all telephone calls or inquiries, ensures information/messages are accurately received and relayed to the managers concern in a timely manner.• Practices excellent Telephone Handling Skills and is capable of excellent Telephone Sales.• Exercises responsible management and behaviour at all times and positively representing the Hotel management team.• Ensures services provided by the department are always available and carried out according to defined standards with the utmost efficiency, consistency and courtesy as detailed in the Department Operation Manual.• Reviews and constantly seeks Productivity level improvements through the process of “taking work out of the system” (when appropriate) and thorough streamlining of work process.• Assists the Sales Manager/Sales Executives to follow up on all matters in their absence.• Follows up sales leads whenever required or assigned by the Sales Managers/ Sales Executives.• Assists in the compilation of Market Surveys and Competitor Research reports.• Assists in the distributions of relevant hotel information to clients when required.• Assists/ participates in sales blitz when required.• Coordinate all familiarization visits and site inspections as required.• Maintain stock and supply of printed & promotional material and corporate gifts

Degree or Bachelor’s degree or technical institute degree/certificate or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

    Senior Master Sergeant (Ret.) Michael Bayerl joined the U.S. Air Force in 1979. Throughout 20 years of active duty, he served as an Air Force Services Specialist and Inspector General for Services-Air Mobility Command. From the moment he started with the USAF Michael was immersed with hospitality experience, starting out in Food in Beverage before working his way through the ranks and functioning in virtually every position available within military restaurants & hotels.

    In 2002, Michael took on a General Manager position at an Air Force Inn, and since that time, he has managed hotel complexes with over 2000+ rooms, on 3 different properties. Michael found his way to IHG when he intentionally took on a role with Army Lodging, knowing that the hotel would soon be privatized into an IHG hotel.

    Today, Michael is the General Manager at IHG Army Hotels on Fort Lee (soon to be re-branded as the World’s largest Holiday Inn Express).
