Your day to day

This is an exciting role until the end of December 2019 with the potential to extend into 2020. It can either be a UK home-based position or based in Germany or the Netherlands.

The F&B Field Manager will support the pre and post opening refurbishment process for the largest Holiday Inn Brand Family transformation programme the industry has seen, acting as the consultant, coach and representative along the opening journey.

You will manage key owner relationships and ensure that all projects delivered by the team are brand compliant with F&B programmes and Brand Standards.

As an F&B subject matter expert, the Field Manager will take ownership of hotel relationships in terms of their F&B operations and manage their hotel portfolios through onsite visits and property calls to determine, communicate, and monitor execution of the optimum course of action for improved performance within all F&B operations.

This role requires you to teach processes and help develop an action plan that will drive the hotel’s commercial performance post refurbishment via HeartBeat and social listening tool analysis, Brand Standard evaluation and Employee Engagement improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Leading the full pre-and post implementation process for the Holiday Inn Open Lobby concept, Holiday Inn Express Next Generation public spaces concept and future brand innovation concepts including F&B concept implementation, commercialisation strategy, operational input layout development, results review and supporting the evolution of those concepts.

Ensuring the efficient and timely opening of all brand transformation project openings in the European pipeline. Directs and project manages the cross-functional brand transformation roll-out team throughout the process for each hotel. Actively manages relationships with Design Managers, Trainers, Hotel Performance Support team and Owners to ensure a successful brand transformation completion and Brand Standard compliance.

Responsible for the end-to-end project management of the brand transformation projects for IHG using both our Salesforce and operational implementation website platforms.

Executing pre and post implementation performance visits (in person and/or virtually) for all projects to track and monitor progress and report back to the Programme Manager.

Consulting, communicating and supporting other teams (e.g. Design, Operations, Training, Brand Management etc.) to address all areas of concept development, training, programme implementation and Brand Standard compliance.

Providing subject matter expertise for all F&B projects related to the Holiday Inn brand family, in particular the Open Lobby and Next Generation concepts.

What we are looking for

Education

  • BS/BA in Hotel Administration or relevant discipline

Experience

  • 8 to 12 years’ multi-site restaurant management or senior hotel F&B operations experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/processes related to the position

  • Experience in other European countries, preferably Germany

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Fluency in German is highly desirable

  • Demonstrated understanding of profit and loss statements and ability to read and analyze an F&B P&L statement for further action plan development

  • Project management and delivery skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of guest feedback tools and ability to read and analyze the reports for further action plan development

  • Demonstrated clear, concise and sharp communication skills, including adapting both verbal and written communication to the needs and level of user. May be required to use consultative or persuasive communication skills to effectively implement programmes or resolve compliance issues with franchisees

  • Demonstrated understanding of Brand Standards and programmes, preferably including the Holiday Inn Brand Family F&B requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of national and local health and safety regulations as they relate to the F&B operation in all hotels

  • Second language skills preferable, especially German

  • Back of house (kitchen, stewarding) experience is a plus

Physical requirements

  • Ability to travel extensively, 75-90% of time both in the UK but also within Continental Europe

  • Majority of work performed in a hotel environment (Open Lobby or similar), or in a normal office environment

  • Major Brad D. Anderson

    United States Army

    Major (Ret) Brad Anderson is the Human Resources Manager at IHG Army Hotels – Fort Benning, Georgia. He retired out of the U.S. Army after 23 years of service with combat tours in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom).

    Brad enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 1992, and was assigned as an infantryman at Fort Lewis, Wash., where he served six years in 9th Infantry Regiment and 25th Infantry Division. In 1999, he was assigned to Fort Benning, Ga., where he completed Drill Sergeant School and then served with the Infantry Training Brigade. He was next assigned to Officer Candidate School in 2003 and earned his commission as a second lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corps. Major Anderson’s previous assignments as an officer include Camp Casey, South Korea, where he served as a postal platoon leader; Iraq, where he served as deputy plans and operations officer, III Corps; Fort Benning, where he served with 30th Adjutant General Reception Battalion, as Headquarters and Headquarters Company commander; Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., where he served with 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), as battalion and group human resources officer and Fort Lee where he served his final assignment as the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) commander.

    Brad’s professional military education includes the Adjutant General Corps Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Drill Sergeant School, Pathfinder Course, and Rappel Master School. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Eastern Washington University, Cheney, Wash.

    Brad’s military awards and decorations include a Joint Service Achievement Medal, 2 Meritorious Service Medals, 4 Army Commendation Medals, 3 Army Achievement Medals, and 4 Army Good Conduct Medals. He has also been awarded a variety of unit and service medals & ribbons, in addition to earning the Expert Infantryman Badge.

    On his first day of military retirement (October 1st, 2015) we proudly welcomed Brad to the IHG family. It was then, that Brad began his career with us as the HR Manager of the IHG Army Hotels on Fort Benning, a role he continues to thrive in today.

    Senior Master Sergeant (Ret.) Michael Bayerl joined the U.S. Air Force in 1979. Throughout 20 years of active duty, he served as an Air Force Services Specialist and Inspector General for Services-Air Mobility Command. From the moment he started with the USAF Michael was immersed with hospitality experience, starting out in Food in Beverage before working his way through the ranks and functioning in virtually every position available within military restaurants & hotels.

    In 2002, Michael took on a General Manager position at an Air Force Inn, and since that time, he has managed hotel complexes with over 2000+ rooms, on 3 different properties. Michael found his way to IHG when he intentionally took on a role with Army Lodging, knowing that the hotel would soon be privatized into an IHG hotel.

    Today, Michael is the General Manager at IHG Army Hotels on Fort Lee (soon to be re-branded as the World’s largest Holiday Inn Express).
