Your day to day
We are recruiting for a Technical F inancial Reporting Manager to be based in our newly refurbished offices in Branston. Your main duty will be to do the preparation of the year end and interim consolidated financial statements for IHG under IFRS. As Technical Financial Reporting Manager you will be responsible for:
Assisting in technical accounting projects including implementation of new financial reporting standards.
Co-ordinating accounting and reporting of major transactions with relevant finance and tax teams
Assisting in the maintenance of the IHG Group Finance Manual to ensure that policies comply with best practice.
Playing a key role in the preparation of the year end and interim consolidated financial statements of IHG in accordance with agreed deadlines, including the provision of value-added commentaries and supporting schedules as required.
Preparing notes to the annual financial statements under IFRS, including liaison with the Group Tax department, Group Treasury and Company Secretariat as appropriate.
Maintaining a detailed and up to date knowledge of all matters related to IFRS and other relevant regulatory accounting requirements.
Reviewing annual financial statements for compliance with IFRS and UK and US public company reporting requirements.
Ensuring that relevant Sarbanes-Oxley processes and controls are adhered to.
Establishing a good working relationship with the external auditors and thereby help to facilitate a smooth audit process.
Contributing to initiatives to continuously improve the quality and timeliness of the consolidated financial information.
Developing and maintain strong working relationships with regional Financial Reporting Directors and Managers and to ensure that key regional issues are resolved at the appropriate level.
Assisting the Director, Global Financial Reporting in evaluating, implementing and maintaining new process solutions.
Carrying out investigations and such other duties as may be required including ad hoc project work.
What we need from you
The successful candidate will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with c.3+ years progressive experience gained in a financial reporting environment, either within the accountancy profession or industry.
Ideally, you will have experience of working with consolidated financial statements under IFRS and experience of working through complex technical matters.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate:
Detailed technical knowledge of IFRS
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with macros, lookups, conditional formatting and pivot tables and Microsoft Office products will be required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to develop and maintain working partnerships in a global organisation
Flexible and able to respond to short deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Advocate of strong internal control environment
Ability to work independently and within a team
