GRS is a new proprietary Central Reservation System (CRS), which impacts IHG’s channels, regions, customer segments and brands. The GRS product platform provides the revenue engine for the company and all our hotels and includes the rates and inventory management and distribution for virtually anything that any IHG hotel can offer. This new platform has transformed the way IHG sells its products and services and, also, requires seamless integration across IHG’s revenue and operations technologies such as, RMS, PMS, data warehouse, Avalon, Magic, HCM, etc. The UAT Product Manager role will be responsible for business/user acceptance of GRS, working with cross-functional teams (Product Managers, Solutions Development, Quality Assurance, Business Analysts, and other external system stakeholders) to ensure that the developed product meets IHG’s business and operational requirements

Your day to day

Responsibilities

  • Review appropriate project documentation to understand the requirements and design for creation of a comprehensive test suite to measure quality and acceptance criteria

  • Develop test artifacts, including test conditions, test cases, test data and expected results and business process flows

  • Test execution, document test results and log defects

  • Lead development and implementation of product strategy: future state based on deep understanding of how the business works, incorporating customer insights, markets, competition, and distribution capabilities as well as the potential “game changing” new functionality and capabilities IHG will require to compete – this should manifest itself in a roadmap of initiatives including small enhancement and content refreshments to existing products as well as new product needs

  • Measure product performance and lead performance improvement initiatives

  • Identify and understand the performance drivers and set up ongoing diagnostics and monitoring capabilities once implemented

  • Drive new product development – through the writing of sound business requirements based on capabilities which will define the functionality in the process to capture full perspective in creating “best fit” products

  • Manage product lifecycles: continually evaluate product performance and key customer insights and ensure new product needs are identified far enough in advance to address needs before product obsolescence

  • Communicate product information: including product roadmap, specifications, value proposition, sales tools training tools and competitive information to stakeholders

  • Provide status updates to PMO for regular reporting cycles

  • Guest Service Delivery – includes working knowledge of hotel operational environment including both on and above property

What we need from you

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Hotel Management, Economics, Mathematics / Operations Research, Communications, Business, Information Systems, or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Experience

6 -10 years progressive work-related experience, with preferred direct hands-on hotel experience, including 3+ years’ experience in product management, product development, marketing, software testing, or operations, with demonstrated travel (hospitality) industry experience and understanding of multiple disciplines/processes related to the position.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding in an area of expertise which will encompass one or more of the following:

  • Software Testing – traditional practices of test case creation, test case execution, test management; experience in testing methodologies (Waterfall and Agile)

  • Product – refers to inventory, rates, and availability; shopping and booking processes

  • Revenue Management – refers to traditional RM practices of forecasting, yield, and pricing recommendations based on complex mathematical modeling, revenue/profit optimization

  • Sales & Distribution – includes all channel revenue delivery for both managed and unmanaged segments of the business

  • Data, Reporting & Business Intelligence – data analysis, performance- measurement, revenue reporting, and strategic business planning

  • Guest Service Delivery – includes working knowledge of hotel operational environment including both on and above property

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purposes of providing information to IHG test streams, vendors, vendor test streams, senior management, and staff

  • Demonstrated ability to present test findings and outcomes to various groups including corporate clients, senior management, vendors, and industry consultants

  • Demonstrated experience in organizing, planning and executing software tests, and designing test strategies for test execution. Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks required

  • Demonstrated experience in comprehending requirements and design documents and business process testing

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to perform research and use the results of analysis to make effective strategic decisions

  • Demonstrated hotel industry knowledge reflecting the entire customer experience lifecycle (reservations – stay – ongoing relationship management)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of travel distribution channels (Web, CRO, GDS or TPI) and reservations sales “building blocks”

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) is preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt tactics and strategies to fast moving, rapidly evolving marketplace required

  • Demonstrated ability to use prototyping or simulation in product creation

  • Experience in formal requirements methodologies such as vision, scope, context, use cases, etc. preferred

  • Graduate coursework or degree a plus
