Your day to day

This design position within the UX Studio will help drive strong brand awareness, customer acquisition, and retention. The designer must be passionate about creating and implementing effective user-centered design. Position requires a high awareness of usability factors that drive user behavior, and business results.​ The Interface Designer will create e-commerce website and application interfaces for several IHG hotel brands, mobile and on premises applications.

Essential duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the User Experience practice groups, business and technical stakeholders to create innovative accessibility compliant user interfaces

  • Create design briefs

  • Lead design meetings with stakeholders

  • Create comps and overall design direction

  • Create assets (in multiple languages)

  • Create and maintain style guides

  • Produce Prototypes/presentations as needed

  • Throughout the lifecycle of product development and management stages provide review and feedback to technology and QA teams as needed.

  • Attend and contribute to peer review sessions and team meetings

  • Stay abreast of new techniques, trends and competitive set products

  • Work with other team members to develop standard UI design enhancements, follow and update pattern library

  • Initiate, conceptualize and lead user interface design based on a thorough understanding of IHG’s hospitality service functionality and usability.​

  • Communicate user interface design implementation to technology teams in the form of detailed specifications and design documents.​

  • Design user interfaces that are consistent with IHG and brand strategy.

What we need from you

Education Bachelor’s degree required in design-related discipline: Graphic or Interface design.​

Experience 6-8 years of progressive work related experience, ideally hotel/travel industry a plus. Typically 5 years experience in graphic design / e-commerce user interface design and ideally mobile application design.

Technical skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated expertise using graphic imaging and design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, AdobeXD, Sketch, MS Visual Design Studio, etc.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of mobile application design (new applications, support and optimization of existing applications).

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects or activities in a dynamic environment by managing designers work assignments, quality deliverables, and communication across cross functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to create prototypes (InVision, webflow, Flinto) and WCAG compliant design.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cross-platform cross-browser compatibility and internationalization issues.

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to present and defend design concepts

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects or activities in a dynamic environment by managing designers work assignments, quality deliverables, and communication across cross-functional teams.

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, manage expectations and communicate progress are required.

  • Demonstrated understanding of website and application iterative development cycle processes
