Job Summary

The Strategic Supplier Management Office (SSMO) will work collaboratively with IHG’s most important, strategic suppliers to maximize realized supplier value and minimize risk through effective supplier relationship management. This office will serve as the primary point of contact for commercial management across IHG, promote value realization and innovation, drive continuous improvement, manage and mitigate risk, promote adherence to the corporate strategy, and act as a Supplier Management Center of Excellence (CoE). This is a commercial management role, and the day to day operation is managed within the business. To be successful, we must approach our work in a collaborative, fact based way, while providing credible challenge to business stakeholders on commercial aspect to ensure value delivery. We are process driven, not process bound.

Responsibilities

  • This position will actively oversee 5 IHG’s most complex, strategic relationships by:

onboarding the supplier and ensuring they understand IHG’s expectations of them

measuring the overall relationship from a commercial perspective

identifying and mitigating the commercial risks associated with the relationship

facilitating an effective relationship strategy

completing contract management

  • Lead Commercial management of 1-5 designated strategic contracts

  • Provide credible challenge to business stakeholders on commercial aspects of large strategic contracts to ensure value delivery for IHG and/or Owners

  • Implement and manage appropriate supplier relationship management tools and structure based on relationship

  • Monitor and drive SLA performance of large strategic contracts

  • Manage and mitigate risk in large strategic contracts by actively reviewing and owning business continuity plans, supplier audits

  • Drive innovation and value in strategic contracts through active supplier management

  • Protect against value erosion in large strategic contracts

  • Identify and share leverage and synergy opportunities

  • Influence and guide business stakeholders on commercial aspects of large in scope contracts

  • Lead SSMO team of resources to achieve supplier management objectives

What we need from you

Education

Bachelors Degree in Business, Economics, Finance or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.

Experience

10+ years progressive work related experience involving supplier management with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/processes related to the position.

Critical Knowledge & Experience

  • Demonstrated multi-year experience in managing large strategic contracts in a global business

  • Experience leading a team in a matrix organization

  • Mix of business understanding and strong expertise in supplier relationship management tools and techniques to optimize performance and innovation

  • Detailed knowledge of contract/commercial management tools and processes

  • Effective relationship skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization as well as senior executives at external suppliers

  • Sound analytical skills and ability to work comfortably in Excel, Powerpoint and Sharepoint

  • Strong influencing and communication skills

  • Ability to negotiate effectively
