IHG Assistant Laundry Manager- InterContinental Abu Dhabi in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates


  • Supervises the Laundry/ValetDepartment operations to ensure efficient delivery of quality product in atimely manner

  • Ensures adherence to alldepartmental guidelines, policies and procedures

  • Schedules personnel so as toensure optimum performance of Laundry/Valet operations.

  • Establishes productionschedules designed to meet the requirements of the hotel and monitorsactivities to ensure that schedules are met.

  • Supervises colleagues, workassignments, and scheduling of product/equipment usage to maximizeperformance and productivity of available resources

  • Attends meetings as necessaryin order to keep up to date on respective hotel relatedactivities/information

  • Communicates frequently withhotel Housekeeping managers, F & B managers & Recreation managers toobtain information necessary to establish production schedules whichaddress the current needs of the hotel with regard to linen, terry, employeeuniforms and employee and guest valet

  • Assists EHK in coordination ofinventory control and replacement purchase requisitions for all guestroomlinen/terry and food and beverage linen.

  • Conducts periodic inventoriesof all linen and terry products, generates monthly usage report

  • Communicates pertinentinformation to EHK in order to maintain effective operation of thedepartment

  • Holds daily “huddles” withSupervisors and monthly colleague meetings as required to maintaincommunications with all department personnel.

  • Monitors chemical usage so asto maintain acceptable “per pound” production process costs

  • Produces reports relating toemployee/equipment productivity, linen and terry usage, damage/discardstatistics necessary to evaluate department performance and assist inmaintaining operating par stocks for all guest room / F&B; linen,terry

  • Interacts with Engineering onequipment repairs and preventive maintenance schedules, monitorsperformance of all recommended/required activities to ensure equipmentperforms safely, efficiently and that down time is kept to a minimum

  • Stays current with regard tochanges in technology, and/or operational procedures that effect theoperation of the Laundry/Valet Department

  • Interviews, trains, appraises,coaches, counsels and disciplines departmental personnel according toLoews standards

  • Follows New Hire Training andon-going training programs in accordance with IHG corporate trainingstandards.

  • Determines need for, andconducts appropriate on-going training on equipment operation, sorting,safety and basics of laundry production.

  • Evaluates individual colleagueperformance, determines areas where need for improvement or requirementsfor advancement exist, establishes goals, objectives and training needsrequired to achieve same

  • Other duties as assigned
