JOB ROLE

Under the general direction of the Executive Housekeeper and within the limits of established IHG and local hotel policies and procedures, oversees and directs the day-to-day Housekeeping operations which shall include guest rooms, public areas and specified back-of –the house areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports directly to the Executive Housekeeper.

  • Provides supervision of all Housekeeping personnel.

  • Cooperates, coordinates and communicates with Section Heads as required.

  • Directs the work assignments of supervisory and non-supervisory personnel.

  • Identifies training needs, assists in developing formal training plans and implements training sessions.

GUEST EXPERIENCE

  • Interacts with guests as well as individuals outside the hotel, such as suppliers, contractors, outsource companies and competitors.

  • Monitors Housekeeping personnel to ensure all guests receive prompt and courteous service.

  • Monitors Housekeeping personnel to ensure all rooms (Executive, deluxe, Club, suites) including repeat guests, Priority, SCC members and other VIP’s receive any special attention as required.

  • Inspects all guest and public areas on a regular basis to ensure that the furnishings, facilities and equipment are clean and well maintained.

FINANCIAL RETURNS

  • Assists in monitoring and controlling, on an on-going basis, departmental costs to ensure performance against budget.

  • Assists in the preparation of the hotel’s Strategic Plan and goals programme.Assists in the preparation of the Housekeeping Departmental budget

RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS

  • Assists in monitoring and controlling Housekeeping procedures that provide for the health and safety of personnel and guests, such as lost and found service, key control, security, emergency and environmental procedures.

  • Contributes towards other hotel activities as appropriate

  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.

The ideal candidate should possess a relevant qualification in Hotel Management coupled with at least four years of Housekeeping, preferably in a hotel of similar size and complexity. Must have detailed knowledge of cleaning chemicals, health, hygiene, safety and security procedures as well excellent attention to detail. Furthermore, the ideal person must have a proactive approach to leadership and the drive and passion to succeed in a challenging and high volume environment.
