for a Senior Manager, Engineering (2-year contract) to join our fun

and energetic team at Singapore Corporate Office.

Job Overview

You'll support IHG’s strategic product

growth and estate quality in adherence to the organization’s brand, build, and

engineering standards to ultimately drive Owner and shareholder return by

creating Great Hotels Guests Love. You'll contribute a high level of specialised knowledge and skill in

engineering to support the Design & Engineering function and subsequently

the operating estate.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support to new build,conversion, re-branding, and refurbishment projects in line with IHG brandstandards

  • Prepares engineering services briefs forConsultants on new projects and reviews and comments on consultants’ designs interms of economy, appropriateness in design, budget and operational issues.

  • Provides engineering input/advice in the duediligence process on potential new/conversion and/or renovation of existinghotels and conducts pre-opening reviews relative to IHG standards andspecifications of same.

  • When required, provides advice and directionto Hotel engineering departments on new and existing engineering standards andprocedures, Fire, Life & Safety and environmental issues to ensurecompliance with IHG standards and specifications.

NEWDEVELOPMENTS (Growth / Pipeline Projects):

  • Provide Design & Engineering team memberswith review, advice and support through desktop drawing reviews for new buildhotel MEP and FLS systems.

  • Provide engineering input/advice in the duediligence process on potential new/conversion and/or renovation of existinghotels to IHG Hotels & Resorts standards and specifications.

  • Assist to prepare engineering services briefsfor consultants on new projects and review and comment on consultants’ designsin terms of economy, appropriateness in design, budget and operational issues.

  • Review and comment on Owners’ / Consultants’design in relation to IHG standards and local code requirements in terms ofappropriateness of design and operational needs

  • Conduct regular and periodic site visits ofassigned projects for the purposes of ensuring progress in in line with IHGstandard

  • Prepares timely reports on project sitevisits, project meetings, drawing & system reviews, inspections and testingto highlight key activities, issue, and variance to required standards

  • Conducts technical inspections as required ofpotential or existing properties and completes Property Improvement Plans(PIPs) of the same

  • Provides input and advice to aid hotel designfor optimal energy efficiency, including compliance with IHG’s Green EngageProgram. Actively seeks out newtechnologies geared to reduce energy consumption


  • Works with hotel engineers for new hotels to ensureengineering system testing and commissioning, acceptance, and take overprocedures are in compliance

  • Provides advice and procedures forestablishing engineering programs (e.g. work request, preventative maintenance,planned preventative maintenance of guestrooms, fire protection maintenance,engineering manual self-audits)

  • Ensure hotels are using computer aidedmaintenance management systems (ESCAP or other approved systems)

  • Assist Director of Engineering (DOE) or ChiefEngineer (CE) with requirements for training of the hotel’s engineering teamwith regards to engineering policies, procedures, and programmes

  • To provide advice and assistance as necessaryto enable the DOE or CE to take full responsibility of the hotel’s engineeringoperations

  • Provide, where required, advice to the DOE orCE for purchasing of required engineering FF&E

  • Assist to ensure health and safety practicesare being implemented in accordance with corporate programs and local laws

  • Collaborate with Hotel Openings Team oncompletion of areas and handover dates for completion


  • Provide engineering maintenance direction, consultation, andtraining to operating owned/leased and managed properties (where required) toensure compliance with IHG standards and procedures and Fire, Life, and Safety.

  • Conducts site visits of hotels on an as needed basis, to reviewengineering operations.

  • Provide oversight, advice andguidance to the engineering function in accordance with the IHG Design &Construction guidelines for engineering teams in the following areas:

  1. Establishment of energy managementinitiatives and sound environmental policies and programs and ensure hotels aresaving energy.

  2. Provide advice, support and directionon standards for engineering operations in accordance with IHG policy asrequired.

  3. Hold a bi-annual engineers workshopfor all engineers to update general engineering skills and knowledge and settargets for energy efficiency and ROI capital projects


Qualifications and Requirements

Education: Degree

or Diploma in Engineering or similar built environment discipline with emphasis

in building services, marine, mechanical, or electrical engineering. Post graduate qualifications would be

considered advantageous.


Related facilities management, engineering, post trade or building, WPHS, or

fire safety certifications are highly desirable.

Experience: Minimum

8 years related experience to include at least 2 years in a building services

/M&E design role. Having previous experience in a building

services/M&E design consultancy would be considered essential. Previous

experience in a managed hotel with an international hotel operator and/or

being conversant with international hotel operator Engineering policies,

procedures, and programs would be considered advantageous.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong technical and problem solving skills

  • Strong understanding of commercial buildings,residential, and/or hotel (preferred) operational requirements in the contextof building services and infrastructure

  • Possess sense of urgency to drive projectcompletion

  • Ability to work independently, with minimaloversight and team player who collaborates well with others to drive consensusin pressure and deadline filled environments

  • Strong verbal and written communicationskills for purpose of providing and explaining project information and statusto Owners, consultants and contractors, internal stakeholders, hotel managementteams, and senior management

  • Experience and comfortability working across multi-culturaland multi-national environments

  • Team player who works collaboratively with adiverse group of people to accomplish complex tasks.

  • Strong level of personal and professionalintegrity
