Work

closely with kitchen staff to communicate speed of service, client number, and

special request.

·

Respond

to guest requests and/or complaints in a prompt and professional manner.

·

May

review guest check with client after function and obtain signature.

·

Inspect

scheduled function areas/rooms, table set up , bar set ups, buffet tables,

receptions and coffee breaks for cleanliness, attractiveness, and proper

layout.

·

Follow

procedures to (1) ensure the security and proper storage of banquet inventory

and equipment, (2) ensure the security of monies, credit and financial

transactions, (3) check storage areas for proper supplies, organization, and

cleanliness, (4) to minimize misuse and breakage of china, glassware, linen,

and supplies and to ensure that no re-usable goods are wasted.

May

handle incoming/outgoing boxes and exhibit materials.

·

May

occasionally prepare beverages requested by guests. Adhere to established pouring standards and

drink recipes to provide a consistent product to the guests and to control

costs. Make appropriate service recovery

gestures according to established guidelines in order to ensure total guest

satisfaction.

Monitor

guest behavior and guest alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to

the guest should cease; notify management of incidents involving excessive

alcohol consumption or impaired condition of customers; check identification

whenever the age of a guest requesting an alcoholic beverage service is

questionable.

·

Promote

teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with

other departments.

·

Train

and schedule employees to ensure proper coverage. Monitor performance and recommend correction

action. Alert management of potentially

serious issues.

·

Respond

in a prompt and professional manner to guest requests and complaints. Make appropriate service recovery gestures

according to established guidelines in order to ensue total guest satisfaction.

·

Oversee

cash handling and check/credit policies and procedures.

·

Inspect

restaurant daily to ensure high quality food and food presentation and

cleanliness.

·

Conduct

pre shift meetings to inform staff of daily events. Review daily specials.

·

Ensure

side work duties are complete and tables are set before, during and after

operating hours.

·

Promote

teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with

other departments.

·

May

routinely greet guests, serve food & beverage, and take reservations and

maintain reservations book if applicable.

Guests Services:

Interact with outside contacts:

Guests – to ensure their

total satisfaction

Vendors

– to ensure adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, to discuss pricing or

service issues, to resolve any vendor performance issues, etc.

Regulatory agencies –

regarding safety and compliance matters

Other contracts as

needed (professional organizations, community groups, local media)

May

assist in reviewing par levels for supplies and equipment and completing

requisitions to replenish shortages or additional items needed for anticipated

business.

·

May

serve as Manager on Duty.

·

May

assist with other duties, including assisting banquet staff with their job

functions during peak periods.

Qualifications & Requirements:

High school

diploma or equivalent and two years’ experience in restaurant environment, in

food & beverage operations including one year supervisor experience, or

equivalent combination of education and experience. Some college or formal training in food &

beverage operations referred. Must be

able to communicate in English, some Spanish or additional languages helpful.

Communication

skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others;

management reports, banquet event orders, ordering and receiving inventory, and

giving and receiving instructions.

Mathematical

skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and

variances are utilized frequently.

Problem

solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are often

used.

·

Alcohol

awareness certification (ABC) and/or food service permit or valid health/food

handler card as required by local or state government agency.

·

May

be required to work nights, weekends, and / or holidays.

Qualifications

Qualifications include High School diploma or equivalent and one year food service experience in a full service restaurant or similar setting. Some college or supervisory experience preferred. Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler cards as required by local or state government agency. You may be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays. This job requires ability to perform the following: carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, moving about the outlet(s), handling food objects and products, bending, stooping and kneeling.
