This position is responsible for all Catering and Convention Service functions. You will manage and coordinate all conferences, meetings, group functions and group activities booked through the sales department. Essential functions include develop Conference and Convention Services marketing plan, goals & strategies; prospect, solicit and close new business as well as maintain repeat clients; handle all major events and VIP clients. You will work closely with Group Sales to sell menus which meet the client's needs and maximize revenues. You will negotiate food and beverage prices, function space, and hotel services within approved departmental booking guidelines. This includes confirming in writing to the client and all affected hotel departments all group requirements via sales contract terms, addendum, confirmation of pricing, group resumes, and/or banquet event order. This position will also review & develop departmental structure (i.e. sales, support & service staff). Periodically review & adjust catering menus to ensure product and vision consistency. Other hotel departments will work closely with you to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients; you will work with F&B Director and Banquet Manager to establish policy standards, procedures, operational guidelines & service manual.

The ideal candidate will have the passion and drive to find new revenue opportunities and consistently strive to maximize revenue and promote relationships through effective negotiation of services and prices in the Hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.


You need some College plus 1-2 years’ sales or marketing related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of the operations of the hotel industry, hotel sales and/or catering preferred. Must have proven selling, negotiating and presentation skills. Highly developed customer service skills with strong attention to detail. Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook (Delphi experience preferred). The ability to delegate, effectively train and coach. Must be a dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure and is able to perform multiple functions and troubleshoot when needed.

You need the ability to travel to attend workshops, trade-shows, conventions, etc. You must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card, as required by local or state government agency, is also necessary.
