This exciting position develops catering business and executes tactical sales plans strategy. As the Catering Sales Manager you will actively prospect and qualify new business while you negotiate guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and/or hotel services within approved booking guidelines, and produce and/or review all sales contracts, rate agreements, and/or banquet/catering event orders. This position will work closely with other hotel departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients while producing monthly sales-related reports and sales forecasts for assigned area of responsibility. You will arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients. Attend and represent hotel at trade shows and conventions and/or participate in sales trips to key feeder markets.


You need some College plus 1-2 years’ sales or marketing related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of the operations of the hotel industry, hotel sales and/or catering preferred. Must have proven selling, negotiating and presentation skills. Highly developed customer service skills with strong attention to detail. Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook (Delphi experience preferred). The ability to delegate, effectively train and coach. Must be a dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure and is able to perform multiple functions and troubleshoot when needed.

You need the ability to travel to attend workshops, trade-shows, conventions, etc. You must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card, as required by local or state government agency, is also necessary.
