To maintain and improve standards of service and develop the procedures within all F&B departments, with specific responsibility for afternoon tea service in the bar. Key Responsibilities

  • Guest experience – champion an excellent guest experience before, during and after each guest’s visit to the hotel.

  • Revenue – to ensure that all F&B staff maximize revenue within the department and encourage upselling.

  • Under the direction of the F&B Director and F&B Operations Manager/Supervisor support other F&B departments across the hotel as and when required.

  • Cost control – maintain and improve food and beverage profits by monitoring stock control policies, and wastage and breakages and implementing remedial actions.

  • Afternoon tea – take ownership of the afternoon tea product and service at the hotel.To include reservations, guest service, staff training, ordering and guest feedback.

  • Reservations - proactively maintain the bar reservations system, confirming bookings with the M&E team and contacting guests to confirm their reservations.

  • Staff training – train F&B staff to ensure they deliver high levels of customer care.

  • Staff planning – plan rotas and annual leave in accordance with the levels of business at the hotel.

  • Ordering – ensure all items of stock are ordered in a timely fashion and in line with hotel polices.

  • Maintenance - to report all maintenance faults to the Maintenance Department, and follow the remedy through.

  • Security - to ensure that all standards relating to security are maintained with emphasis on the following:

  • Liquor stocks

  • Hotel Equipment

  • F&B Keys

  • F&B Floats

  • To ensure each new member of the team receives a departmental induction within their first week and attends a company orientation within their first four weeks with the company.

  • To carry out appraisals/job chats as per the company appraisal system.

  • To be fully conversant with disciplinary procedures and all other relevant human resource practices e.g. sickness/absenteeism

  • Ensuring recruitment, training, development and staffing levels are as required, whilst demonstrating a management style that is both ‘hands on’ and strategic.

  • To be able to act with initiative, planning for the future and possible consequences. Being pro-active in getting things done and exceeding expectations of both guest and colleagues where possible.

  • To attend and contribute to all daily/weekly team meetings.

  • To have a thorough knowledge of and adherence to the law with regard to the following company regulations:

  • Licensing Laws;

  • The Hotel Health and Safety Policy and Procedures;

  • The Hotel and Company Security Procedures;

  • The Hotel facilities and attractions;

  • Hotel operation standards and department procedures;

  • Food Handling & Hygiene Laws;

  • Fire Regulations and Procedures;

  • First Aid Procedures

  • Current Licensing Regulations (Food and Beverage Service department only)

  • Methods of payment accepted by the Company (cash handling staff only)

  • Short and long term marketing promotions.

  • To be a good example of the company dress code and appearance standards ensuring that your team fully comply with these.

  • To undertake special duties or work outside the normal daily/weekly routine but within the overall scope of the position at the request of the Hotel or General Manager.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position

  • at least 3 years experience working in a Food & Beverage environment

  • experience within a Hotel environment

  • be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills.
