Job Summary – To oversee and direct

all aspects of the hotel’s strategies of selling and executing concerning the

areas of Conference and Events.

Work with operations to ensure successful conference and banqueting and outside

catering events for our clients.

The Sales Manager - Conference and Events manages the procurement and delivery of conference and meeting.

The key job responsibilities of this role are:

  • Co-ordination and monitoring of all meetings and convention

  • Manage the standards and procedures of the department

  • Conduct room familiarisations and site inspections

  • Monitor competitor activities

  • Ensure contracts are completed and revised

  • Ensure maximum departmental Sales profit is achieved

  • Maintain and develop contacts with business generators, meeting and conference planners, visitors/Conference Bureau, travel agents, tour operators, airlines, corporate accounts

  • Oversees the preparation, presentation and service of banquet food and beverage products to ensure highest quality at all times

  • Use standardized formletters for use by all Conference & Banqueting staff as response toinquiries, tentative/ definite bookings, thank you, cancellations andre-bookings. Ensure appropriate letters aresent and filed.

  • Actively solicit and bookbusiness following hotel standards.

  • Meet with clients to workout the details of their functions.Escort clients through the property and highlight features of facilityas well as available services.

  • Visit external customers attheir selected venues for Outside catering purposes to best establish theirneeds and allow for a successful event.

  • Suggestively sell menuswhich meet the client's needs and maximize revenues.

  • Where appropriate, entertainclients in the hotel outlets to sell the hotel facilities. Make reservations at non-peak times in orderto allow the outlet to provide the best service. Adhere to all Accounting policies regardingpayment

  • Liase with the ExecutiveChef to plan special requests for clients and special event menus. Arrange introductions between the client andChef.

  • Welcome group contact uponarrival at function and ensure guest satisfaction

  • Anticipate guests' needs,respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time ofday. Promote positive guest relations atall times.

  • Be familiar with all hotelservices/features and local attractions/activities to respond accurately to anyguest inquiry.

  • Monitor and handle guestcomplaints

  • Contact clients afterscheduled functions to ensure guest satisfaction and to solicit re-bookings

  • Conduct weekly B.E.O. reviewmeetings; resolve any discrepancies and provide support when appropriate

  • Attend designated meetings

  • Foster and promote a cooperative working climate,maximizing productivity and employee moral

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum two years experience as Banquet Manager

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work irregulars hours, late evenings and weekends when appropriate

  • Previousexperience with an international or global organization

  • Strongknowledge of the market

  • Strongorganization skills

  • Effectiveinterpersonal and influencing skills

  • Highlevel of business savvy, change management, negotiations skills, and issueresolution
