The Associate Manager will work in the Americas' Strategy team on high value global and regional initiatives, interacting regularly with Strategy Managers, Strategy Directors, Strategy VP, the Regional Operating Committee members, and other senior management throughout the organization. This highly visible role will be responsible for conducting analyses relating to strategic business issues using analytical frameworks and financial modeling skills, and provided analytical support, project planning and strategic advice to leaders of major initiatives.

This challenging opportunity will participate in regional and global initiatives with the rest of the Strategy team. As needed, this role will support regional Presidents and senior management teams on critical regional initiatives. Specific duties and responsibilities include conducting analyses relating to strategic business issues using analytical frameworks and financial modeling skills, and provide project management, analytical support and strategic advice to leaders of major initiatives. The Associate Manager will work on multiple work streams within complex projects all the way

from project structuring to implementation planning effectively navigating a complex multi-region,

multi-function matrix organization; ability to monitor competitor strategy and intelligence for the

Americas region.

Essential Duties andResponsibilities – (Key Activities)

  • Participate inregional and global initiatives with the rest of the Strategy team. As needed,support regional Presidents and senior management teams on critical regionalinitiatives. Specific duties and responsibilities include conducting analysesrelating to strategic business issues using analytical frameworks and financialmodeling skills, and provide project management, analytical support andstrategic advice to leaders of major initiatives.

  • Gather and organizedata from appropriate internal IHG systems and external vendors to supportstrategy projects. Work with colleaguesacross various IHG departments to obtain data and understand data nuances, asneeded for projects.

  • Assist on multiplework streams within complex projects all the way from project structuring toimplementation planning effectively navigating a complex multi-region,multi-function matrix organization

  • Monitor competitorstrategy and intelligence for the Americas region

  • Build power pointpresentations and excel models to communicate insights to team members andcolleagues and support strategy discussions with project Steering Committees,Americas operating Committee and occasionally Board of Directors.

  • Communicate work toother strategy team members and other Director and VP-level stakeholdersthroughout the company

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, Marketing or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

1-2 years’ work experience in strategy, consultancy, or finance or 2-4 years corporate level experience with exposure to a broad range of business issues.

Post degree qualifications, previous leisure/hospitality and/or franchise industry experience desirable, but not necessary.

Technical Skills and Knowledge -

  • Ability to assess and understand a variety of internal/external economic and financial issues with impact to the business; analyze data and forecast future business trends and to develop strategic plans based on business needs and assessments.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking through proven ability to analyze markets, performance data, and business issues and draw insight/conclusions.

  • Ability to develop interpersonal skills and build relationships across business units for collaboration, data requests, and joint analysis.

  • Financial modeling/analysis (DCF, NPV, accounting) and basic finance principles a must.

  • Requires strong self-motivation and ability to plan time and prioritize.

Work is performed in a normal office environment

Ability to travel as required or need for projects (10-15%)
